Organ Rejection?
Lots of ups and downs since the last post. Several large open surgeries to fix issues with adhesions, J-tube positioning, and complications from earlier surgeries. Big issues, but Sara has dealt with them before. However, over the July 4 weekend Sara's new bowel started passing raw blood and the intestinal villi and tissue quality degraded significantly, showing signs of organ rejection. She received a blood transfusion to replace the blood loss and is being treated with massive steroids and anti-rejection drugs, but it is a delicate balance with a myriad of side effects. The new small bowel has declined and is now at risk. The doctors don't seem to have a magic bullet for this, although they have arrested the decline for now. It is a wait and see proposition on whether it gets better or worse. I will post again when there is a change in status. Your prayers right now would be most appreciated. ...m2

Dear Marc, Sheri, and Sara,
ReplyDeleteYou have been in our prayers every day! We will continue to intensely pray for Sara's healing and recovery, for no rejection of organs; for Sheri, Marc, Gillian, and family who love Sara so much; and for wisdom and expertise for her doctors and nurses. We pray for miracles and grace. You are not alone, we are with you in our hearts, and we are asking God to hold you in his arms, and let you feel his love and presence. We pray for strength and endurance for each of you.
Thank you so much for posting, we will pray specifically, and have many others in Minnesota and Wisconsin praying also for you!
Much love,
Linda and Bob Haugen
Thank you for the update. Our prayers continue to pour out for Sara's total healing, for restoration, for strength and for endurance. We have not ceased in our prayer groups and in all of our circles of 12 to pray 24/7 for Sara, your family, doctors, care givers, and everyone who is involved in Sara's recovery.
ReplyDeleteIn prayer-
Eriko and Randy, + prayer team leaders
No one can imagine or come close to understanding/empathizing what this special family is going through. In all likelihood the rest of us could not bear the challenges that you are bearing....God does not allow us to go through things that we cannot handle. Your family has definitely gone through its ups and downs and you are a testimony of strength, endurance, reliance, and hope.
ReplyDeleteAll we can do is continue lifting all of you up to Him who hears our prayers. Sara, I can't wait to meet you one day!!
"I lie down and sleep; I wake up again, because the Lord sustains me." Psalm 3:5
Much love-
Eriko and Randy Valk, and prayer teams worldwide.
We are lifting you up everyday to the Heavenly Father who loves you with his manificient love and healing powers. You and your precious family are prayed for everyday by our prayer team at Hyde Park Baptist and we want you to know that God has his healing powers at work. Keep the faith and God will give you extra strength to get through this difficult time.
