slowly declining

We have been waiting for some good news to report but there hasn't been any since the last update. Sara spend a longer time than expected in the ICU after her last surgery about 3 weeks ago, and has been on the transplant floor of the hospital ever since. Her condition has been slowly worsening, and the infection has been getting worse, along with the continuing organ rejection spreading to previously good parts of her stomach and bowel. The doctors have been trying all kinds of combinations of treatments to balance the infection and rejection, with no luck so far. It appears that the doctors are approaching a decision point, with re-listing Sara for another transplant becoming more likely. However, they cannot proceed with that track until the infection is cleared. Sara and our family are apprehensive about her condition and what comes next. On the bright side, Sheri’s sister Elizabeth flew to Indianapolis last Saturday to stay for 2 weeks to help, and has brought a ray of sunshine into the room. We are patiently waiting for a small miracle. …m2

I wanted you all to know that I am praying for Sara's miracle!

I haven't seen Sara in a while...but those trips to the Orthodontist are still some of my favorite memories as a kid!
