Day 5: another little operation
Today Sara had another visit to the OR mid-day to get her incision reclosed. It looks like a BIG + sign and where the two lines cross it is a real mess and has been slowly opening up. The tissues are weak from many operations, and the conventional closing methods don’t work well. The doctors somehow got it closed back, but it has continued to bleed slowly all afternoon, and Sara has had very high blood pressure (unusual for her) since the procedure. As of midnight, they are still trying different combinations of drugs to control the blood pressure, and the bleeding is still a problem. Today more or less reset Sara to the beginning of the recovery from the transplant operation. We are hoping tomorrow will be better and Sara can begin making progress on getting the breathing tube removed, regaining full consciousness and giving us a ray of sunshine, but we’ll even settle for grumpy ;-) Until tomorrow…m2
