Intubator was removed this morning, earlier than we expected!!! Sara wanted that thing out, and pronto. Sara is breathing on her own and communicating (she communicated a lot when the tube was removed ;-) We are hoping Sara can turn the corner today, but its a marathon not a sprint, so progress is measured.
Dr Vianna (head transplant surgeon) stopped by this afternoon and provided a little more detail on the surgery. Sara's removed bowel was a real mess. The new stomach, small bowel and pancreas are "pristene", and he felt very positive about them.
Special thoughts and prayers for the donor family, who made the gift of life during a time of great personal tragedy. Our hearts truly go out to them...m2

Hugs and love to all of you today. I can not stop thinking of you all - wishing I was there to sit with you. Prayers to Sara on a smooth day by day of recovery. And yes, prayers to the gift of life. What a gift a family made for Sara! I will continue to click on this sight hour by hour for updates.

You and the donor family are all in my prayers. Keep the good news coming. I will forward your prayer request to Jerry's sister, Sister Christopher and her fellow sisters. They have had some amazing answer to prayers in the past.

The donor family has been in prayer since even before the operation, and Sara will continue to be lifted up as well.

Sara, Eriko Valk is a sweet friend who asked me to pray for you. I have lifted you before the THrone of Grace in Jesus name, requesting healing for your body in the challenge. May you know Him as you never has! Nothing is wasted on God's child. blessings, Marsha
