dodging bullets

Sara was started on a transfusion of Cytogam today to treat her rejection and within minutes went into severe respiratory distress (couldn’t breathe). Sheri was there, and they called a nurse who summoned the Rapid Response Team (similar to Code Blue). Almost immedately a team sprinted in and Sara was surrounded by a room full of specialists. They stabilized her and restored her breathing. She almost got a breathing tube in the process, but fortunately they were able to get her restored without that unpleasant procedure while awake. A chaplin was even part of the team, so they brought in the full set of resources. A series of tests were run this afternoon to verify that Sara was indeed stable. She is staying in a room within feet of the transplant ICU, so experts are right there. This could have ended badly, Sara was very very fortunate…m2

  2. Sara, Sheri, and Marc,

Thank God the medical team was there and able to stabilize Sara! We are praying constantly for the medical teams to be excellent for her. What a terrible scare, I can't imagine what you felt, Sheri. Sara is obviously a priority in that hospital. We are praying, with many others, for strength, patience, healing and thriving for this wonderful girl!! Hold on...

    Much love,
    Linda
